During my late teenage years it was my misfortune to find myself trapped as one of the “human shield” in Kuwait during the 1990 Gulf War. At that time I frequently watched Peter Greenaway's The Draughtsman’s Contact which inspired me to take up pencil and paper as a way to pass the hours. After my release the inspiration held and I went on to graduate from Norwich School of Art with a BA hons in Visual Studies. Drawing formed a major part of my everyday working practice. Until now I have taken a hiatus from exhibiting, but drawing has remained a vital tool for me to contemplate, and understand, the world around me.
